Development Services - Approve a Wireless Use Permit Renewal for an existing approved 150 ft. tower on an approximate .34 acre or 18,730.8 sq. ft. parcel in a R1-18 (Residential; Single Family; 18,000 sq. ft. min.) zoning district, subject to the previously approved stipulations; Mayer Domestic Water Improvement District; Nicholas Caezza with American Tower Corp.; APN: 500-16-007E; HA# H17042. This property is located off of Pinto Street and approximately .2 miles from the intersection of Jefferson St. and Border St. in the community of Mayer. S26 T12N R01E G&SRB&M (District 2; Supervisor Thurman)
Brief Explanation of Need
Previous P&Z Recommendation: On June 18, 1997, the Commission moved to recommend approval of the Special Use permit to allow the construction and installation of a 150 foot high, self-supporting communication tower, and co-locate the existing Fire Department facility, together with a 12’ x 36’ equipment building for cellular communications with the following stipulations: 1. Special Use Permit to be approved on a twenty (20) year, transferable basis in conformance with site plan dated 4-2-97 with modifications to setbacks for conformance with the County Zoning Ordinance; 2. The tower design shall be reviewed and approved by the Building Safety Division of the Planning and Building Department with regard to collapse within the bounds of the subject property; 3.All outdoor lighting to conform to Yavapai County Zoning Ordinance requirements; 4.Existing mono-pole to be removed upon installation of the Fire District equipment on the new pole; 5. Applicant must co-venture with other companies in the placement of additional cellular communication equipment in the immediate area; 6. The communication tower be removed from the property if it becomes unused or obsolete. The motion carried by a vote of six (6) to two (2), with Commissioners Volkman and Jenner voting nay.
Previous BOS Action: On July 7, 1997, the Board of Supervisors approved the application as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
