BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AGENDA-2018
- Approve a Communications Site Lease Agreement with Interstate Wireless, Inc. to provide space in their building for the Roads Division to place radio equipment which will provide radio communication coverage to the areas of Yarnell, Castle Hot Springs, Wickenburg, and Congress that is not currently available with existing equipment locations. YC Contract No. 2018-187 (District 1 - Supervisor Simmons)
Brief Explanation of Need
Interstate Wireless, Inc. has a long term lease with a communications site on Yarnell Hill and will provide space in their building for the Roads Division to install and maintain radio poles and antennas. This will provide them with radio coverage that is not currently available in the areas of Yarnell, Castle Hot Springs, Wickenburg, and Congress, including many areas where cell service is poor to not available. The site where this repeater equipment is located is within the Tenderfoot Fire scar, to the immediate east of Yarnell. The previously facility was burned, and subsequently rebuilt after the fire. Other areas of Yavapai County have radio coverage provided via other existing leases and repeater equipment. The cost to Yavapai County to lease this space/property is $175/mo, $2,100/yr. The initial lease is effective for three years and terminates May 31, 2021, and automatically renews each year until notification is made per the agreement.
We respectfully request the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors approval of the Communications Site Lease Agreement with Interstate Wireless, Inc. for the annual amount of $2,100.00 to be paid from the HURF budget for which there are available funds.
