Action Requested
Public Works - Approve acceptance of donation of a new radar feedback speed limit sign from the Prescott Country Club Property Owners Association, to be used exclusively within the Prescott Country Club community. (District 2 - Supervisor Thurman)
Brief Explanation of Need
In mid-2018, Yavapai County Public Works was approached by the Prescott Country Club Property Owners Association (PCC POA) to inquire about the placement of an electronic radar feedback speed limit sign within Prescott Country Club at some key locations. Yavapai County complied as it could, and resident response was very positive. The PCC POA inquired about the possibility of purchasing a radar feedback speed limit sign that matches the specifications of the County’s existing fleet of similar signs, and donating it to Yavapai County Public Works for exclusive use on public roads within Prescott Country Club.
Dan Cherry, Public Works Director, spoke at a PCC POA Board meeting on September 18, 2018, and outlined the expectations by the County that would allow for acceptance of such a donation, and then drafted a letter and exhibit with the input of the PCC POA to solidify what was discussed. This letter from Yavapai County Public Works to PCC POA, dated November 27, 2018, is attached to this agenda item. Value of the equipment purchased by PCC POA, including electronic sign, mounting brackets, spare batteries, and charger is approximately $5,000. The equipment has been received by Yavapai County Public Works and is currently in use within the community.

Supervisor Thurman met with the PCC POA Board on January 15, 2019 and received feedback that the organization believed the proposed agreement was preferable as written. A representative from the PCC POA Board will tentatively be present at the Board of Supervisors meeting to be able to answer questions, if necessary.

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to formally approve acceptance of this donation of a new radar feedback speed limit sign and associated equipment.
